Showa Kinen park will definitely be a stop if I ever get to Tokyo! It was difficult for me to find who designed this, but credit appears to be due to Fumiaki Takano, who received a design award for it in 1993.

Hi Paige,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great park - I live right next to it. We'll bring the picnic if you ever visit!
Fumiaki Takano was responsible for the park, but the various play sculptures are by a diverse range of artists... two popular ones are
Rainbow Hammock (the nets) by Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam (who I know is a favourite of yours)

Fuwafuwa Dome (the marshmallow trampolines) are by Shiro Takahashi

Unfortunately the FuwaFuwa Domes are now off limits to adults as of this year (luckily I was able to enjoy them for a few years) but I think that if you went on a weekday morning, especially in early autumn you'd be able to get away with a few jumps before someone caught you.......

Thanks for the comment Chris! I dream of seeing the Japanese playgrounds in person...will definitely take you up on the picnic when I get there!
