Caracool, Joel Escalona, 2008

Designer Joel Escalona is looking for producers for his Caracool playground slide, which can be made from fiberglass or from wood. I'd love to see this for sale in a big-box store...it would really up the ante for backyard playground equipment.

  2. Thanks a lot for this blog, it's very difficult to find photos anywhere else on internet! By the way, I saw nothing about playgrounds for adults? Are you planning to write an article about it?

  3. This is a pretty cool looking slide. I really like the little hang out space created beneath it. As the Ninja Turtles might say- its totally tubular!

I wonder if the slide itself is entirely functional though. What happens when you get to the end. I think that little lip would catch your feet and stop you from sliding. Has the slide been tested at full scale? Also, I wonder if there wouldn't be some benefit to putting ridges on the edge of the slide so kids can't fall off. I think this could be done in a way that doesn't sacrafice its style.

Even if I'm right about these problems(and I may not be), I think this design has a lot of potential with a few revisions.
