Beaver Lodge, Shore Country Day School, Beverly, Mass, Mark Ragonese, 2009

For a school whose mascot is the beaver, a beaver lodge, by artist Mark Ragonese as the focal point of an 'inspiration garden'  designed by Julie Moir Messervy.

  1. Does the beaver lodge structure support the weight of children climbing on it?

  2. Not sure, but I have to say it doesn't look like it. Would be nice if it did, though!

  3. The Beaver Lodge is too "prickly" to be a climber, but I can't see anything that would deter a child from starting to climb it.

The museum where I work has an outdoor sculpture of an iguana that kids love to climb, despite the little signs asking visitors not to climb it.

The sculpture sits on a platform that seems to be designed to deter very young children from climbing on it.
