Dear readers,
I need some assistance with making some upgrades to the blog, adding a map of playground locations and the like. If you think you could be of help (or if you know how to make a merry-go-round out of a wagon wheel), get in touch!

I wish I could help as I love your blog, but I'm afraid I dont' have the tech skills to offer... still, I'm excited to read there are going to be developments here :-)
ReplyDeleteI would love to help, but alas, I do not know how to do this. It's a great idea though!
ReplyDeleteHey there, I'd be happy to help. Send me an email at daniel [at] danielbigler.com and we can chat about what you had in mind. Cheers!
ReplyDeletehey-
ReplyDeletelet me know what help you need...have you tried google maps?...you can create one and then add sites all over the world (as well as give others permission to add sites) -- also I love your site (read it regularly) and am making a post about your make better project at my own site today....I will mention that you need help with this as well. I started a garden map (for great gardens to visit) some time ago...maybe we can strategize ways of helping each other out with creating a couple of great maps. -
best,

What are you interested in building? We might be able to help you at KaBOOM!. Send me an email: jcooper@kaboom.org.
ReplyDeleteFor the map, I'd suggest using Google My Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps/mm). Create a map (or one for each region, etc) then click 'Link' and copy the code beneath 'Paste HTML to embed in a website'.
ReplyDeleteYou can click 'Customize and preview' before copying the code, if you want to change zoom levels, size of the map, etc.
Paste the copied HTML into your template, or into an individual post. I've confirmed that this works in blogger.
There are more complicated ways of doing this that give more control, but this one's easy and fast, and still looks good.
Good luck! Thanks for writing this great blog.
We use Google Maps to show community gardens in Chicago. It is free, easy to use, and we can post it on our website. The downside is that I have not figured out how to add metadata for the points any way but manually.
ReplyDeleteCould you use google maps or something like that?
ReplyDelete@Meredith: you can add metadata to features using the Google Maps Data API: http://code.google.com/apis/maps/documentation/mapsdata/developers_guide_protocol.html
