I was particularly intrigued by the Mouse House posted from the Adventure Playground in Oberon. It's a feature I associate more with amusement park funhouses than with playgrounds, and according to the Blayney Heritage Park, which also has one, very popular with the kids. Does anyone have any information on these...other locations or manufacturers?
I have seen a similar feature at Lithia Park in Ashland Oregon. I don't know if it is a Mouse House or not but it has been there a long time.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it's still there, but the "Papa's Pizza" in Eugene, Oregon had one when I was a kid. I mean it wasn't called Mouse house, but same thing. Maybe slightly smaller circumference because I think some of the bigger kids could almost do a cartwheel when it spun around.

ReplyDeleteMy sister and I used to play on one of these at our dad's apartment playground in Frederick, Maryland. I think it was called the Run-R-Round, or something like that. I wonder if it is still there.
ReplyDeleteI played in one near Sioux City, Iowa as a kid. I thought it was the best thing ever. However, my cousin broke her nose playing in it. Perhaps that's why you don't see more of them...
ReplyDeleteThey used to have one in Worland, Wyoming (don't know if they still do). They also had an unusual swing set. The swings swung, but were hung on a giant T structure and the top part of the T was on a joint, so the swings could be spun around in a circle too.
