The facade of a building is a tremendous, and often missed, opportunity to create playable space (see an exception, the previously blogged
WOS 8). Slovenian studio
Arhitektura Jure Kotnik used rotating vertical shutters, painted in bright colours on one side and plain wood on the other, over a glazed facade for a kindergarten in Ljubljana. The construction, which could easily be adapted as a playground feature, or part of a fence, used prefabricated wood and was built in just three days. Absolutely brilliant.

That is SO cool! I didn't see that coming. What a brilliant idea. If I were a kid I would be so excited to come to school each day to see what the school looked like.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing approach to container buildings. The drab and boring transformed into fun and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAs always thanks for sharing.

It's simple yet dramatic! I love how it transforms to view from inside while encouagibg interactive play outside. 2 for one--brilliant!!
ReplyDeleteThat is just a great idea! I could imagine to incorporate this idea even in normal houses.
